About

Picture
The Nappy Project is an exciting initiative aimed at implementing a best-practice reusable nappy program in collaboration with 14 councils.

This joint project brings together the efforts of Bayside City Council, Boroondara City Council, Brimbank City Council, Glen Eira City Council, Knox City Council, Maribyrnong City Council, Maroondah City Council, Monash City Council, Moonee Valley City Council, Nillumbik Shire Council, Stonnington City Council, City of Yarra, Yarra Ranges Shire Council, and Whitehorse City Council.

The primary goal of The Nappy Project is to address the barriers faced by parents and caregivers when it comes to using reusable nappies. By providing support and resources, the project aims to empower parents and caregivers to choose reusable nappies as an effective and sustainable alternative to save families money.

The Nappy Project is committed to fostering a positive and informed environment for parents and caregivers, ensuring they have access to the necessary knowledge, resources, and guidance to make informed decisions about reusable nappies.

The key elements of the program include:
  • training Maternal Health Nurse teams and Childcare teams in supporting families to try reusable nappies
  • running community workshops to help families understand the benefits of reusable nappies and hands-on trials
  • providing nappy trial packs to selected participants to include reusable nappies in their everyday lives

The program will be evaluated by comparing baseline data on disposable nappy use with follow-up data on reduction in disposable nappy use.

By working together, the participating councils aim to empower families and make a positive impact on their everyday lives.

Join The Nappy Project and discover the numerous benefits of a best-practice reusable nappy program, while helping your household reduce pressure on the family budget.

The project is managed by Ninti Earth (Chooktopia) on behalf of the 14 participating councils.
